FAQs

Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEP) are allied health professionals, registered under Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA). Completing a minimum of 4 years of university education, an AEP has expertise in prescribing specific and individualised exercise as a form of medicine for the treatment, management and prevention of chronic health conditions and/or injuries.

Exercise is medicine!

At YourPath we understand and utilise the latest and best medical/sport science-based evidence to deliver high quality bespoke care. We treat the client, not the condition!

Prevention and Management of Acute/Chronic Conditions:

As AEPs, we are trained to treat a range of acute or chronic conditions such as strokes, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, osteoporosis, musculoskeletal injuries and more.

We assist in rehabilitation post-injury or surgery, ensuring a safe and effective return to normal activity.

We give guidance on lifestyle changes and exercise to prevent future health issues, specific to your needs and goals.

No you don’t need a referral to see an exercise physiologist for private sessions. However if you plan to claim rebates through Medicare or the Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA), a doctor’s referral may be required. You’re able to book an appointment directly here.

Yes, our venues that we operate out of are fitted with HICAPs machines to offer on-the-spot private health insurance rebates for both individual or group exercise physiology services.

Difference from personal trainers

AEPs are equipped to work with both apparently healthy populations but specialise in working with clients of various different circumstances/conditions and can help those with chronic illness.

Difference from Physiotherapists

AEPs don’t offer manual therapy such as massage, however are experts in chronic care, exercise prescription, and can treat in an acute setting. We can also prescribe exercises and stretches to alleviate muscle tightness.
